About

Through my design and strategy work I have helped organizations reach their product and user experience potential, contributing to millions of dollars in new revenue and cost-savings, while delighting thousands of users along the way.

I consider myself an entrepreneur at heart who believes in the power of leveraging design principles to achieve maximum business results. I’ve spent over 10 years leading UX design teams through various steps of the design process which include: research, prototyping, user testing, insights, strategy and ready to ship high fidelity designs.

Throughout my career I have learned the value of human centered design, design systems and a systematic approach to design that effectively takes into consideration project constraints, desired business outcomes, and user needs. I have also learned first hand the immense value of good design and the costs that can be attributed with bad and ineffective design.

Originally from Michigan (USA), I’m currently based out of Chicago (USA) and have been working in remote based organizations since 2018. Outside of work I love traveling, learning about investing, technology and design, teaching, creating art and spending time with my family and friends.

Product & design leadership ethos

These are the six main pillars of my design and leadership philosophy:

Goal oriented - I take a very goal oriented approach to all of my work and believe that design efforts are most effective when leveraged by clear goals and objectives.

Systematic design - Great UX design is not achieved by chaotic big home run swings, instead I believe its achieved by continuous and deliberate actions taken by well synchronized product teams that continually leverage business goals, understand users needs, while measuring the effectiveness of their efforts along the way.

Lead with your work - Design should lead by doing and should be able to clearly convey its value by the business outcomes its able to achieve.

Always learning - I believe in building an environment of continual learning. It’s always better to acknowledge an unknown, find the answer, and document it.

Servitude leadership - Oftentimes blockers need to be removed and bridges built for design and product teams to be functioning at maximum velocity. I view part of my role as leader is to be empathetic and facilitate for others to ensure teams have access to the tools they need to maximum their talents, collaboration efforts, and contributions.

Importance of a defined common language - Working at a startup and product based organization can be challenging. It is even more challenging when concepts, processes, and words mean different things to different departments and individuals. I believe it’s strategically important to define a common language so that teams remain aligned and focused on the most important aspects of our work.
